Vickie is currently in Poland and about half way through her amazing adventure. So, I thought I'd share a few of the shots she's been sharing on her tumblr of Paris, the first stop on her trip.
1. view from Sacre-Coeur // 2. Citrus tart // 3. Arc de Triomphe // 4. Jardin du Luxembourg // 5. and Jardin du Luxembourg, again // 6. Musee d’Orsay

a day at the market | may
It was our first market without Market Master Vickie and although we had a bit of trouble figuring out how to fit everything and it took us longer than normal to setup, the stall looked great.
We had a good day overall, the sun came out and it was unusually warm for a May morning. People milled about all morning and we enjoyed the best pizzas that have ever graced the market, seriously they were so yummy!
Mum and I have lots of work to do for our next market - Flinders Street Market on the 1st of June! If you’re in the city on the weekend, come check it out. :)

five things | getting ready to go
1. I've found myself going between being really excited (I'm going to Europe!) & really overwhelmed (I have so much to do/decide/plan), so I'm trying to find the balance - have a little freak-out & then get back to it. I seemed to manage some measure of calm in the last week of preparation, so tried to hang on to that.
2. Lists. Lots of lists. Where to go, what to pack, what still needs doing, things to buy, things to make...
3. Reading guidebooks gets me feeling excited, but can also somewhat overwhelm - there's so much to see/how do I decide/what if I miss something - and I have to stop & remind myself that it's all going to be pretty amazing & new & there's no possible way to see everything anyway.
4. Advice will come from all sorts of people - the trick is to listen & then decide which bits to take on board, because you can't (& probably shouldn't) follow it all. "It's much less scary once you are actually doing it" is one piece I'm holding on to.
5. Working out what to pack is tricky (I'm sure I've ended up packing stuff I won't need), but it's one of those times where I've just had to decide & go with it. It seems my palette is mostly blues, greys & purples, with an occasional pop of other colour - I never would have said that blue was my colour, but at the moment, it seems to be.

see you later, alligator...
So, I'm about to leave - as in my flight to Paris is tonight! - & thought I'd post a few little notes before I go...
~ while I'm gone, the plan is to tweet & tumble my travels.
~ I'm imagining tweets as I go & tumblr posts occasionally, but we shall have to see.
~ here on the blog will be a mix of scheduled posts & guest posts from my lovely sister Kathryn.
~ my etsy shop will be in vacation mode & I'll probably give myself until the end of June to get back up & running.
~ I'm alternating between super excited & super nervous.
~ I've run out of things to say, so see you later & wish me luck!

recently...
...we've had beautifully mild autumnal weather, followed by what feels like an abrupt drop into wintry temperatures (apparently the other day was the coldest May day on record), although the rain was most welcome...
...most of my time/thoughts/energy has been taken up by my upcoming trip - I leave on Tuesday!...
...spent a lovely day in town with my godmother - talking, browsing, wandering, having coffee & cake, doing a little shopping - she lives in the US so it's always special when we get to catch up with her...
...made a tumblr, to share travel photos + other bits & pieces...
...another Flinders Street Market, Wirrabara Producers Market on Easter Sunday, plus my first Bubblegum Market...
...have done a bit of getting out & about, taking advantage of the beautiful time of year to do some exploring - a day at Alligator Gorge & a peaceful morning in a forest...
...plenty of things happening, so not much baking recently - a batch of muffins, scones to take to the forest (although that was Mum's doing) & I enjoyed my piece of Kathryn's first attempt at an angel food cake...
...tangle cards & a little bit of jewellery...
...& a gorgeously foggy morning.

bubblegum market | may
Had a lovely, reasonably busy Sunday at the Bubblegum Market in Whyalla. I don't have many photos - what with a last minute-ish location change for the stall (which worked out really well, but made set-up that bit more hectic) & the crowds of people all day - I simply didn't have a chance/think about it. Snapped a few of the stall just before I started packing up, but that's about it really.
Had a lovely weekend though (travelled up with a couple of friends who were also stall holders) & we're hoping to get to the next one as well - sometime nearer to christmas, although the date isn't set yet. I'll keep you posted :)

...other places
Just a little post to introduce my new tumblr. For now I'll be using it as a place for quick photo posts - my main impetus for creating it is to share some of my travels as I go, after that who knows? - & other images that don't quite end up here on the blog. I can see it being something I end up spending a bit of time on, especially as I find some more people to follow...
