market days...

A little wrap-up of our recent market outings...

We booked ourselves a pretty packed end-of-year market schedule - three big Adelaide markets in a row - & we always knew it would mean pushing ourselves in terms of energy & stock levels. And while life circumstances & super hot weather have meant we've finished way more tired/drained than expected, we're still pretty happy with the outcome.

First up was the Home Sweet Home market at Flinders Street in mid-November. We had a joint Jewelflyt + Hollipotamus stall, under our newly lace-topped gazebo, filled with copper & bronze jewellery, zentangle cards, dragons, dogs, mobiles... Although there wasn't as big a crowd as anticipated/hoped for, we still had a really good market - including far too many cakes from St George's.

On the last Saturday in November, I had a solo (Jewelflyt) stall at the Etsy Made Local event in Unley - these were run all over the country on the same day, the Adelaide event being organised by the EtsyAdelaide street team. The setting was gorgeous (Oxford Tce), the weather was kind to us, my stall looked good (& I almost ran out of business cards), there were heaps of people & I had probably my best ever market day sales - just an amazing day all round.

Then on the first weekend in December it was time for this year's Christmas Bazaar at Flinders Street. A joint venture again, under the lace canopy & I think our stall looked lovely. The crowd wasn't as big as last year - but then last year it wasn't super hot (high 30C's, low 40C's both days). Actually, considering the heat, the amount of people who came to the market was amazing & we still had a really good weekend sales-wise.

& lastly to the Wirrabara Producer's Market last Sunday. Things were a little quiet - thanks to the weather again (it was cooler on the day, but the lead up left everyone exhausted) - but it is always a nice outing & a lovely way to finish off the year's markets.

flinders street market | september

Very happy to be back at Flinders Street Market on Sunday. It was a gorgeous spring day & it was so lovely to catch up with everyone, drink good coffee, eat yummy cake & lunch on delicious pad thai.

The next time we'll be at Flinders Street is on the 21st & 22nd November for the Home Sweet Home market & then we'll be back on the 5th & 6th December for the Chistmas Bazaar - lots of making to do between now & then...

flinders street market | july

A beautifully sunny, if somewhat chilly weekend at the Flinders Street Market this past weekend. Our table layout was a little different this market - inspired by the 'crafty' Craftapalooza theme - & we had lots of lovely new hanging things to show off. It was a bustling, colourful market & we had a lovely time - good people, good coffee, good food, good atmosphere - just a lovely place to be.

a day at the market | may

An utterly glorious autumn morning for the Wirrabara Producers Market this month. Although it was pretty chilly first thing, it didn't take long for the sunshine to warm things up - throw in hot drinks, lovely people, wood oven pizza, planning, trays of apples, a pumpkin or three & some quince jelly & you have a very enjoyable morning.

We're not going to be having a stall at the market during the winter months (we'll still visit to pick up yummy local produce of course) but we'll be back come spring...

flinders street market | may

Another lovely weekend at the Flinders Street Market. We took our new gazebo for its first outing & managed to put it up without too much drama. Using the gazebo altered our table layout a little, but we were pretty happy with the outcome & we're busy plotting different ways to use the ability to hang things up. Somehow didn't manage many photos of the market itself (I'll try to get more next time), but as always it was full of lovely things, good food & coffee, friendly people & general good atmosphere...

a day at the market | april

A bright & sunny Easter Sunday morning for market this month. We were actually expecting much cooler weather (as forecast), but luckily it stayed mild-to-warm & sunny during the market, not getting cold & grey until we were home. Plus daylight savings ended, so we got an extra hours sleep, add to that another bunch of gorgeous dahlias & you have a pretty good market...(a few photos of the stall here & here)

a day at the market | march

Perfect autumnal weather for our first Wirrabara Producers' Market of the year - a cool morning which gradually warmed up, with blue skies, sunshine & a slight breeze to stop it getting too hot.

The market didn't feel super busy, but business was good, morning tea was delicious (fig, almond & coconut slice, yum), we came home with apples, fresh bread, honey, cucumbers & a gorgeous dahlia, the stall looked good & it was just a generally lovely morning.

flinders street market | handmade with love

We had a lovely time at the Flinders Street Market on Saturday. The theme for the day was 'Handmade with Love', celebrating the market being around for a year & also the fact that Valentine's Day is almost upon us.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't particularly kind to us, diving head-first back into hot, summery temperatures - rather a shock after all the mild weather we've been having. It made things a bit slow (including us!, hence not many photos), but as always we met some lovely people & some of our goods found new homes...

a day at the market | december

A bit of a hot & blustery day for the December Wirrabara Producers Market, but there were still plenty of people out & about, buying up gorgeous local fruit & veg for Christmas.

Our stall looked lovely & colourful - fortunately the wind didn't manage to run away with our cover or stock - & we had some lovely customers, caught up with some friends, were given some lollies by santa & even managed to get in quick enough to come home with some cherries this year.
