~ enjoying the cooler weather (& glorious rain) after what felt like a very long stretch of very hot & humid weather.

~ I've been working on my first batch of silver for the year.

~ some cute patches: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

~ spent a while chasing a butterfly around the garden the other afternoon - this is one of maybe three good photos I got, but I had fun regardless.

~ might have to make this chocolate cake again sometime soon...

  ~ busy planning an amazing European adventure with my sister Amy - we're visiting Latvia, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Netherlands & Scotland. We're planning on castles, fjords, amazing landscapes, beautiful cities, good food & new experiences

  ~ I've been listening to this beautiful song

  ~ recently finished reading A Treacherous Curse, the third Veronica Speedwell mystery - if you like a fun mystery/adventure with a feisty heroine, then I recommend you give this series a go

  ~ really enjoying following Kat (Gartur Stitch Farm) on her blog + instagram

  ~  the blossoms have started blossoming - spring is almost here

Just a little post to introduce my new tumblr. For now I'll be using it as a place for quick photo posts - my main impetus for creating it is to share some of my travels as I go, after that who knows? - & other images that don't quite end up here on the blog. I can see it being something I end up spending a bit of time on, especially as I find some more people to follow...

five senses | writers' week

Seeing: sunlit gardens, crowds of people, pretty dresses & books.

Tasting: hot coffee & fresh pastries.

Hearing: voices full of stories, emotions & laughter. 

Smelling: cut grass, fresh coffee & new books.

Touching: book covers & pages, warm sun & cool breezes.

five senses | summer

Seeing: vivid blue skies, golden stubble & bright, bright sunlight

Tasting: fresh, local fruit - apricots, peaches & plums, creamy ice-cream & cool watermelon

Hearing: the rumble of grain trucks & the crunch of dry grass

Touching: the sharp bite of the sun on my skin

Smelling: dry, dusty earth, ripe fruit & the promise of rain

five senses | morning walk

           Seeing: the hazy, pale gold early morning light, streaming through the trees

           Hearing: chattering, chirping birds, greeting the morning

           Touching: the feel of cool, crisp, early morning air on my skin

           Smelling: the sharp scent of pine needles underfoot

           Tasting: hot, strong, milky tea & banana muffins for breakfast

five senses | brisbane

          Seeing: richly, vibrantly purple jacaranda trees in full bloom

          Tasting: pizza - we ended up eating a fair bit of pizza during our trip

          Hearing: the swish of the river & the rush of the traffic

          Touching: raindrops on my skin, the breeze in my hair & the sun on my face

          Smelling: fragrant blooms, coffee shops & the city when it rains

an apple a day...

five senses | home

          Seeing: the sun kissed fields, wide blue (& grey) skies & open spaces

          Tasting: honey cookies & hot tea

          Hearing: sparrows chattering, the wind blowing & the patter of rain-drops

          Touching: lying in my own bed, under a familiar quilt

          Smelling: sweet honeysuckle & home-cooking

Our time away was wonderful, but it is also very, very nice to be home...

I'm attending a PMC workshop & lecture over the weekend & decided to take few extra days & have a little holiday. So I'm planning to take lots of photos, eat some yummy food, browse some nice shops...& maybe even catch up with some DUST-ers.
