sentenced | january

I first fell for the cute spotty cover & then was intrigued by the idea - one sentence per day (with a prompt) for the year & the next two as well - & so far I'm having fun with my 'A Sentence A Day' book. And obviously I had to get a cute pen to go with it (I've mentioned my love of pretty stationery before, right?).

The prompts are fun & sometimes a little hard to answer, but I'm trying to just stick with whatever I think of first. I can have a tendency to worry about getting stuff 'right', but I remind myself that this is supposed to be fun & there is no 'right' answer anyway. It will be interesting to come back in a year & see what I have to write about then...

the prompts shown are 'what was the last song you listened to?', 'what is the colour of the day today?', 'what do you love about this season?', 'name three things you're grateful for' & 'when did you wake up this morning?'

a few good things...

1. early morning sunlight & lavender.
2. baking - so nice when a new recipe works - I made lebkuchen & they went down very well.
3. magazines - the latest issues of Peppermint & Art Jewelry.
4. baby apples on our tree.
5. parks, swing sets & sisters - a lovely outing in Clare last month.
6. the macro lens, dandelions & taking photos just because.
7. a little project for next year.

a photo project in four parts...

Earlier this year when I was brainstorming ideas for this blog & other projects, the phrase 'month of mornings' popped into my head. Originally I was just going to take a photo every morning for a month, but then I started thinking about seasons & which month I would pick....

Eventually I decided that I would take a months worth of photos, but in four parts - one week each season. So this week I am taking a photo every summer morning, in a couple of months I will take a week of autumn morning photos & so on...

...naturally I also have a few extra photos from each day (& it's only day 2, lol)...

(I will post week 1 early next week)

summer | autumn | winter | spring

we went for a little drive today & I took my portrait (with Amy's help) by the side of the road. It was very windy & cold.

day 6, in disguise...

the hat is borrowed from my dad - he's had a version of this hat for as long as I can remember - & the beard is borrowed from my younger brother - the girls made it for his last birthday. Actually I quite resemble him in some of the shots I took today XD

day 4, a little bit magic...& a lot windy...

Taking self portraits can be kind of difficult, especially since we can't use our remote with the 50d. Add a wide brimmed hat which doesn't fit & lots of wind & doing it on your own becomes almost impossible.
Luckily I had Kathryn to help me today - she played my 'remote' & pressed the button for me.

I think the hat spent almost as much time off my head as on, in the shot below I only just caught it before it blew away completely.

& bonus shot of me looking really silly

day 3, from before...

3/7

Mum brought this hat back from the Tatry region of Poland many, many years ago (the hat is older than I am).
& I don't know if you can tell, but it's way too small.

day 2, *bespoke*, buttons...

I subscribe to a gorgeous little magazine called *bespoke*. Each issue is full of articles about art, craft, vintage, creativity, inspiration...all the good stuff really. (& the cover art is awesome)

I was also lucky enough to win one of the subscriber's gifts & received this sweet headband from Sarsparilly.

better late than never...

Ah, so it's been somewhat more than a week since my first sketching post.

& to be honest, I haven't actually done much sketching in the last fortnight.  I have been away & then sick (on the mend now), so I'm not too disappointed.

These aren't quite all I've done, but I'm going with only posting the ones I like best. (they are in chronological order here, my favourite is the one below)

day 6 - { whimsy }

Today is my sister Kathryn's 18th Birthday.
Kathryn is funny, warm, generous, organised, crazy, talented, determined, amazing....she never ceases to amaze me. I fully believe that she will reach her goals & sometime in the not-to-distant-future you will be buying a copy of her first novel.
I'm very lucky to have her as a sister & a friend.
So Happy Birthday gorgeous, I love you :)
