cake { the teleidoscope }
delicious & colourful - week #46 of The Teleidoscope - Cake.
I can't take any credit for the awesomeness of this cake - it was all Kathryn. She spent pretty much all day making this epic seven-layered rainbow sponge cake. Plus she helped me with my photo & let me use her photo set-up. Thanks gorgeous!
actually, I'll take a tiny-tiny bit of credit, I was able to give her a little advice at the adding colour stage.
*diptych photos taken by Kathryn, also she played tripod/remote for my sp

all wired up...
Recently I was lucky enough to win a give-away on the Metal Clay Heads Team blog. They're a pretty awesome bunch of metal clay artists & I'm very glad to be a part of the team :)
Anyway, my prize is this gorgeous pair of (sterling clay) earrings, made by the lovely Pennee. They're quite gorgeous & the perfect size. I've been wearing them lots since they arrived (I think they rather suit me) & I love them.
You can find Pennee's beautiful jewellery in her etsy shop - All Wired Up Jewelry Designs.
I took the above photo they day the earrings arrived (last week), but I probably should have taken another today - I have far less hair now!

recently...
I've been making some necklaces, with fine silver, sterling chain & beads...I'm rather pleased so far...
Also eaten some baked goodies - I baked biscuits ^^ basically my adaptation of traditional anzacs, gluten/wheat free (although this batch does have oats) & Amy made a batch of mini Pineapple Upside-down Cakes - soooo good!
Read some good books - The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, a beautiful, fantastical love story (as recommended by Ally) & Whispers Under Ground by Ben Aaronovitch, the third book in the Rivers of London series & I think my favourite so far (you might like to read them in the correct order, not start with the second book like I did).
Also, The Rook by Daniel O'Malley, which I read earlier in the year & really enjoyed.
Also spent a lovely day with my family, exploring Mintaro - including the maze. We also had a picnic, blew bubbles & took some family portraits - lots of fun :)

and finally... { working 925 }
...my last workshop piece is this copper & silver brooch.
Since I only had one class to work on this (the last week - I miss it already) I did as much preparation as I could before I went. So I cut the silver piece (the copper component is from testing out textures with the rolling mill before I made my wing) & smoothed all my edges.
Then in class I made the brooch components, soldered them on, drilled & hammered my (copper) rivets & made the pin. I did the final finishing (sanding the front) after I got home.
I am hoping to get the necessary tools for both soldering & riveting - I'm fairly confident with the riveting, but soldering will be a matter of practice makes perfect (I had a lot of help with all the soldering I did during the course).
