patina & polish

The rest of this batch of silver.

Unlike the other pieces, I gave these ones a patina. I've then rubbed back & burnished them - I mostly wanted the patina to highlight the patterns & textures of the pieces.

The earrings with the triangular stones are an older pair I'm re-finishing.

Apart from the three pendants with the stones, these are now in the process of being turned into pendants & earrings.

& a couple of close-ups, because I was playing around with the macro lens :)

My first ever photo expansion... above is not the exact image I used, but shows the size/scale I started with. Below is an in progress shot - because the background is so bright, it's hard to see all the edges, but I used 12 images, plus the central one.

writers' week...again { film }

just a quick peek at some of the pieces from this post. They've all been tumbled & these ones are staying shiny. The other pieces from this batch have been given a patina & are still being finished.

oh, & if you were wondering where the large green cubic zircona went - my youngest sister claimed it as soon as it came out of the tumbler :)

writers' week 2012

In early March, we attended Adelaide Writers' Week (part of the Adelaide Festival), held in the Pioneer Women's Memorial Gardens. The weather was beautiful, pretty much all the talks we listened to were really interesting & we came home with a pile of new books.

We also shot a roll of film while we were there - a post on that coming soon.

You can also see Kathryn's posts on her blog - she has written/will be writing more about what we saw, I'm mostly sticking to pictures :)
