month of mornings | a look back
I really enjoyed my 'month of mornings' photo project last year - a week each season (summer, autumn, winter, spring), equalling a months worth of photographs (28 in fact, which makes the month February, I guess).
I didn't give myself lots of rules - just seven mornings in a row, with anything until noon counting. Although only once was the photo taken that late in the morning, most often I was done before breakfast - or at least before morning coffee. I think splitting the project up into seasons worked well - not only did it keep the images interesting, but a week of photos is a challenge, without becoming really hard work.
Actually, I think picking the image for each day was probably the hardest part - I almost always had plenty of extras, especially on the days I took the camera on my morning walk, in order to catch the sunrise.

{ 2013 }
Somehow the past year seems to have gone by incredibly quickly, yet last January feels like forever ago. 2013 had it's ups & downs & challenges, but I think it was a positive year over-all, with plenty of good experiences. So here are a few of the things I remember most from the year...
One of the most exciting things this year was our trip to Queensland for my cousin's wedding, plus a little holiday...seeing Josh Groban in concert in Adelaide was pretty awesome, as was listening to some favourite authors at Writer's Week...I really enjoyed my month of mornings project...stuck to my goal of posting on the blog every second day, created/adopted/continued some series of posts I quite like & enjoyed the August Break...had fun baking & found a few new family favourites...made a bit of jewellery - some silver clay, some beading, made some new textures & molds, started experimenting with firing base-metal clays, played with some polymer clay & leaves...did a bit of sketching & zentangling, along with a bit of a painting project...the Bowerbird Bazzar is always inspiring & speaking of markets, have really enjoyed our stall at the local producer's market, plus getting into some different crafts - printing bags & aprons, making felt ornaments...various forest adventures, one or two of them quite damp...& finished the year with a lovely, quiet family Christmas...

writers' week 2013
I was very happy to be able to attend some of Adelaide Writers' Week again this year. Held outdoors in some of Adelaide's beautiful park-lands, it's free! to attend & lots of fun. Although I have to say this year's weather wasn't quite as wonderful as last year.
Anyway, we managed to attend talks on two different days & listened to some authors we already loved, as well as discovering some new (to us) ones. Kathryn & I also waited in two really long lines to get books signed.
Isobelle Carmody & Kerry Greenwood have been favourites of mine for a long time & they were very worth listening to (Kerry's talk was hilarious). I also really enjoyed hearing Justine Larbalestier & Vikki Wakefield (on a panel with Isobelle), Karen Lord (although I missed part of her talk due to one of the aforementioned lines), Scott Westerfeld & Toni Jordan. It was also nice to see Sean Willams again (talking with Scott Westerfeld), as his talk with Garth Nix was one of my favourites last year.
& Kathryn's posts 1 | 2 (I also must thank her for having found the links for all the authors already, so I could just copy them :) )

{ 2013 } | grow
a new year, a new beginning, new possibilities...
as part of my planning for the new year, I completed Susannah Conway's "Unravelling the Year Ahead" workbook (as suggested by this girl). I found it helpful, interesting & even a little challenging to complete & very worthwhile.
part of the process is choosing a word for the year & my word for 2013 is grow
it's about reaching out & exploring & discovering....I want to grow as a jeweller, an artist, a photographer & most importantly as a person.
to grow through my fears & towards my possibilities
I don't know exactly where that will take me - although I do have some directions to start heading in - but life is all about the journey anyway.

a new year dawns...
a new beginning, full of potential & possibility...
I'm still in the midst of working out what I would like the coming year to be for me & planning how I might go about trying to make it so. But it feels like it will be a good year. And it's exciting (& a little scary) to think about what it might bring.
So here's to 2013 ~ may it be full of love & light & laughter
