Happy Birthday Amy!

Had a lovely time celebrating my youngest sister's birthday today. Mum baked an awesome mint & chocolate cheese cake, we managed to surprise her with her presents, & more importantly, she loves them.

So Happy Birthday to my awesome, gorgeous, smart, kind, funny sister Amy!

there & back again...

We're home from our sisterly (ad)venture - we had a wonderful time, saw some stunning scenery, did plenty of walking (some parts more difficult than others), ate some really good food, laughed alot, did a bit of shopping & just generally enjoyed ourselves.

There are plenty of photos to share, but I thought I'd start by posting a few of my favourite iPhone shots, as posted on my instagram/tumblr. Lots of other images on our trip tumblr too.

1. Blue Lake, Mt Gambier \\ 2. Umpherston Sinkhole, Mt Gambier \\ 3. Bay of Islands, Great Ocean Road \\ 4. Twelve Apostles, Great Ocean Road \\
5. Hopetoun Falls, Otway National Park \\ 6. Lindt Cafe, Melbourne \\ 7. Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne.

sisters head east...

My sisters & I are off on an adventure - a road trip, first to Mt Gambier, then along the Great Ocean Road to Apollo Bay, followed by Melbourne, staying for a few days in each place. We're coming home via Broken Hill, so that we can catch up with our sister & niece.

We're planning twelve days of waterfalls, bush walks, amazing scenery, good food, plenty of photographs, fun, early mornings, exploring, a little shopping & lots of laughter.

You can follow our adventures on our tumblr, as well as my instagram & tumblr, with possibly a few posts here & on Kathryn's blog.

This blog + facebook will be pretty quiet & also, my etsy shop will be closed for the fortnight.

recently...

...it's been warm, cold, wet, hot, sunny, grey & really, really windy - spring weather, basically...

...we (my sisters & I) leave on our road-trip in a week - there has been lots of planning, organising, dreaming & I think we're on-track (I'll post more about this soon-ish)...

...more blossom love - they have been mostly scattered by the wind now, but hopefully there is a nice fruit crop to come (also plenty of blossom here)...

...celebrated my birthday last month - had a lovely day, with beautiful weather, delicious cake (lemon curd & blueberry layer cake) & even presents...

...finished my batch of silver - ready to fire | tumbled | having bails & bits added...

...visited the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden - it's been on my list for a while & was well worth the trip...

...several markets last month, with the Gladstone Country Fair & Wirrabara Producer's Market on the same weekend & Flinders Street the week after...

...still posting photos from my trip...

...trying to work out what to do with my hair - growing it currently because I want to do something different, but I can't figure out what style would suit me/would work with my hair *shrug*. I'm sure I'll work it out eventually. Or get fed up & go short again, lol.

& wow, looks like this is my 700th! post, which seems quite amazing.

cute & colourful...

These cute felt & fabric creations are the work of my Mum & sister Kathryn, to sell on their 'Hollipotamus' stall at the markets we attend (the name is inspired by our favourite cutie-pie). Their range of toys, brooches, clips & assorted other creations is ever expanding & I think all the things they are making are utterly adorable (possibly slightly biased, but I mean, just look at them!).

So anyway, just felt like having a some light-heartedness & colour on the blog (these little creatures make me smile). Also rather pleased with how the photos turned out, so kind of showing off a little, lol.

*working on having a proper web presence for Hollipotamus, but for now you can contact them via the shop facebook page.

flinders street market | september

Back at Flinders Street Market on a lovely (if somewhat windy) spring weekend. Along with my jewellery, Mum & Kathryn's new name for their market stall/handmade goods 'Hollipotamus' had it's first outing & we continued to tweak & improve our layouts & displays.

Apart from forgetting to pack the camera (apologies for the slightly grainy iPhone photos) our set up went well & we had a good weekend - including getting some henna 'tattoos' & enjoying some yumminess from The Lunch Lady.

We won't be making it to Flinders Street during October (something to do with half of us being off on a road-trip), but stay tuned for our November dates.
